On November 26, the lecture series “Das Eigene im Anderen – Das Andere im Eigenen” came to an end with the presentation of Ms. Hanifa Massawe. We would like to thank all our presenters for their interesting presentations about often controversial topics. It is there contributions who made our project a success. We truly enjoyed working with them and are really looking forward to any form of close collaboration with them in the future. 
We would also like to thank the interested audience who came to listen to all kinds of presentations from transatlantic migration to legal issues of migration within Tanzania. Their active participation in discussion sessions following the speaker's presentations rounded off every session successfully and left the audience with some material to think about.

The intercultural evening is now over and we want to thank everybody who came to CdK on 03.12.2013 and enjoyed the entertaining program with us! Together we created a friendly intercultural atmosphere in which we had a nice discussion about the problems foreign students face while studying abroad. We then enjoyed the surprise prepared by Chinese students who demonstrated a traditional art of paper cutting and encourage the audience to try it too! After that, we all watched splendid performances of Bollywood dance and later on belly dance that were the highlight of the evening! We then offered an interesting food quiz to the audience where they tried different dishes prepared by different nationalities. In the end, we had some winners who got coupons for free drinks at the party!

Lecture Series Das Eigene im Anderen – Das Andere im Eigenen: October / Novemer 2013

Migration is an ever-growing popular topic all over the world. This weekly lecture series is designed to create a stage for speakers as well as listeners to engage in an open talk about the chances but also problems migration to another country constitutes. Presenters are people coming from different universities talking about a variety of topics including such interesting and controversial issues like The Impact of Migration within Africa, Identity Formation Within German-Polish Migration or Stereotypes and Assimilation in Transatlantic Migration. The quite international student body of TUC but also exterior people being interested or experienced within the topic are invited to take place in an open discussion session following the presentation. 
With the lecture series, we hope to not only offer a place to people from all over the globe to talk about their experiences with migration but to also broaden the horizon of people and to create a better understanding for immigrants coming to live in Germany. 

Migration ist ein populäres und kontinuierlich wachsendes Thema auf der ganzen Welt. Diese wöchentliche Vorlesungsreihe wurde entworfen um eine Plattform für Sprecher als auch Zuhörer zu schaffen, die sich in einem offenen Dialog über die Chancen aber auch Probleme von Migration treffen. Die Sprecher kommen von verschiedenen Universitäten  und werden eine Bandbreite von interessanten als auch kontroversen Thema abdecken wie z.B. Der Einfluss von Migration innerhalb Afrikas. Identitätsbildung bei Deutsch-Polnischer Migration oder Stereotypen und Assimilation bei Transatlantischer Migration. Die internationale Studentenschaften der TU Chemnitz wie auch außenstehende Leute interessiert oder erfahren mit diesem Thema sind herzlich eingeladen an der anschließenden offenen Diskussionsrunde nach den Präsentationen teilzunehmen. 
Durch die Vorlesungsreihe hoffen wir, Menschen aus der ganzen Welt nicht nur einen Platz zu bieten, an dem sie ihre Erfahrungen mit Migration mit anderen teilen können, sondern wir hoffen auch, den Horizont der Menschen zu erweitern und ein besseres Verständnis für Immigranten in Deutschland zu schaffen.

we would like to thank you first of all for having found your way to our blog. This blog is designed to keep you up to date about our lecture series dealing with the topic of problems and chances of migration.

We are studying English and American studies in our master's degree at Chemnitz University of Technology. In our course Project Management, we will be organizing a lecture series with the title “Das Eigene im Anderen – Das Andere im Eigenen: Chancen und Probleme von Migration” in October this year. Our international speakers are going to give presentations on topics of importance such as stereotypes in transatlantic migration, the impact of migration within Africa or identity formation in Polish-German migration. All those presentations are followed by a discussion session in which all of our listeners will be given the chance to ask questions, express their views and share experiences.

Additionally to the lecture series, there will be an International Student's Discussion Night as well as an International Evening with food, music and talking.

We would like to very warmly welcome you to keep visiting our blog for new information and developments in our project. Also, we would be very pleased to see you all at our guest's presentations in October and actively participate in the discussions.

Liebe Interessierte Leserinnen und Leser,

Wir möchten Ihnen zunächst danken, dass Sie den Weg zu unserem Blog gefunden haben. Dieser Blog soll Sie zu unserer Vortragsreihe, die sich mit Problemen und Chancen der Migration befasst, auf dem Laufenden halten.

Wir studieren momentan im Master Anglistik/ Amerikanistik an der Technischen Universität Chemnitz. Im Rahmen unseres Kurses Project Management, werden wir die Organisation einer Vortragsreihe mit dem Titel "Das Eigene im Anderen - Das Andere im Eigenen: Chancen und Probleme von Migration" für Oktober diesen Jahres durchführen. Unsere internationalen Referenten werden Vorlesungen zu bedeutsamen Themen, wie Stereotypen in der transatlantischen Migration, Auswirkungen der Migration innerhalb Afrikas oder Identitätsbildung durch deutsch-polnische Migration, halten. Am Ende jeder Präsentation wird es eine Diskussionsrunde geben, in der alle Zuhörer die Möglichkeit haben, Fragen zu stellen, Meinungen zu äußern und Erfahrungen zu teilen.

Zusätzlich zu der Vortragsreihe wird es eine Studentengesprächsrunde geben, bei der alle internationalen, als auch nationalen Studenten willkommen sind. Außerdem planen wir einen internationalen Abend mit Essen, Musik und Gesprächen.

Wir möchten Sie sehr herzlich auf unserem Blog willkommen heißen, um sich über die neuesten Entwicklungen von unserem Projekt zu informieren.
